Enjoy the scenic drive to the eastern side of the Coromandel Peninsula. Pass through the Coromandel Ranges covered with beautiful native forests, abundant with native ferns and palms.

Check out the stunning natural hot springs at Hot Water Beach. We will make sure that we arrive as close to low tide as possible so that you can dig a spa in the sand or get really hot feet. This is possible due to geothermal activity bringing lava-heated water to the surface in a natural spring. Remember to bring swimwear and a towel if you want to have a dip.

Next stop is the Cathedral Cove Marine Reserve, the film location of “Narnia.” Here a gigantic arched cavern passes through a white rock headland to join two secluded coves. The beach is sandy with shady pohutukawa trees, a perfect place for a picnic and a swim. The walk is a mix of up and downhill so good walking shoes are recommended.

Before heading out, we will visit Hahei Beach for photos or walk on the beach.

• Travel time from central Auckland to Coromandel is 2.5 hours each direction.
• Moderate walking ability is required.
• Access to Hot Water Beach is tide dependent.
